Het leven is een zich herhalende cirkel.
We komen thuis van een midweek weg met de pleegkids.
Vroeger – zo’n 25 tot 10 jaar geleden – boekten we in de herfst- kerst- of voorjaarsvakantie regelmatig een weekje weg. We bezochten kastelen, liepen door oorlogsmusea, stroopten door de bossen en wandelden over de hei. We stookten haardvuurtjes, lazen boeken voor, gingen mountainbiken en nog veel meer. De kinderen bewaren er heerlijke herinneringen aan.
Ook in dat opzicht wordt het steeds drukker, we hebben nu niet alleen de weekjes en dagen met de volwassen kinderen, we trekken er regelmatig op uit met pleegkinderen en hun vriendjes. Het is een soort herbeleving, we genieten ervan.
Opnieuw passeren oorlogsmusea, de bossen en de golfslagbaden de revue.
De jongens ravotten tot ze laveloos hun bed in rollen, doodmoe van het spelen, stoeien en lachen. Het is zo leuk om ze echt blij te zien.
Frans en ik hebben prachtige boeken bij ons, we lezen wat, praten wat en stoken de open haard. Om de beurt koken we of halen we af in het restaurant. De kids laten het zich allemaal welgevallen, ze zijn net een bodemloze put, kunnen dag en nacht eten.
`s Morgens vroeg zien we het bos tot leven komen, er springen eekhoorntjes van tak tot tak. Het lijkt wel alsof we af en toe al een vogel horen kwetteren.
Het is ook alsof elke dag een dubbel aantal uren telt. Logisch, er staat niets op het programma, geen verplichte taken.
Rust is een van God gegeven geschenk. Het houdt je leven in evenwicht. Rust is vrede na geestelijke of lichamelijke inspanning.
Door rust te nemen kom je dichter bij de essentie van het geloofsleven.
De mens heeft rust nodig, de Bijbel noemt voorbeelden genoeg. .
Gewoon omdat je moe bent ( Math. 8 : 24 )
Rust na doorstane angst ( Pred. 2 : 22-23 / 2 Kor. 2: 13 )
Wanneer je depressief bent ( 1 Kon. 19 : 3-6)
Doordat de stormen van het leven over je heenkomen ( Job 3 : 20 – 26 )
Doordat je teveel werk hebt verzet ( Marcus 6 : 30 – 31)
Elke week na zes dagen werk heeft de Heere rust ingesteld ( Exodus 20 : 8 – 10 )
Rust vind je door Gods Geest ( Jesaja 63: 14 )
” Het was de Geest van de Heer die hen rust gaf ‘.
Echte rust vind je door het ervaren van Gods aanwezigheid ( Exodus 33 : 14 )
Door naar Jezus toe te gaan ( Matth. 11: 28, 29 )
En door vertrouwen op God. ( Psalm 91: 1,2 )
